I'm currently a honors freshman at Pace University in NYC, and was planning on studying both pschology and pre-medicine, as I hope to one day work in the field of psychiatry. However, this year I discovered that there is no pre-medicine program at Pace. I know that I can just take the required courses for entry into medical school as well as the MCAT, but I was wondering if it would be better to just transfer to a school with a pre-med program. The main issue I have with this decision is that I'm really happy at Pace--I've had a great experience so far and have already had great opportunities opened up for me. Would it be worth it for me to transfer, or better to just stay where I'm happy? I was also accepted to Fordham, but chose Pace over them because of the financial aid; so if I were to transfer, they would probably be my first choice. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

What do you mean by that? Pace has no pre-med advising? Pace has no committee to write a letter of recommendation for med school applicants?

If there’s no pre-med advisor, that’s a difficult situation. No committee is not an issue as there are many schools which don’t.

No pre-med advisor sounds unlikely, but it puts you in a difficult situation if one is absent. I don’t consider it enough to warrant a transfer from a school that you obviously like and are enjoying.

We may have a pre-med advisor, I’m not sure–I haven’t been given much information from the school on this subject. Like you said, there most likely is one here, I’ll look into it. Thanks for the help! :)

funny what you can find by just searching google:

…it’s also funny that i seem to know more about your school than you do just by typing “pace premed” into google

pace definitely has a pre-med track.
