My superscored SAT is a 2250, and I still have to take 2 more subject tests (since some of the schools I'm thinking of applying to require 3). Should I retake the SAT in October and do the subject tests in November (or vice versa), or should I be satisfied with my SAT score and simply take the subject tests.

I am planning on applying ED, so I want to finish my exams by November. Though I know that subject tests can be taken by January, I feel that not having subject tests to show the admissions people would put me at a disadvantage during the ED process.

So that's it really. Would do you think I should do?

What are your best scores on the individual sections? If you have something above 700 in both CR and M, it may not be worth retaking, especially since you’ve already taken it more than once.

My best M score is 700 and my best CR score is 800.

I wouldn’t take it a third time with those scores. More than twice and you start to look bad, IMHO. Others may disagree.

I’d concentrate on trying to rack up a couple of really good SATII scores instead. I gather that you have already taken one? How did you do? Ideally you want Math II, a science, and something from the humanities.

Depends on which set of tests you are studying for in the summer. But a general piece of advice is to retake the same test(s) without interruption. So if you’re set on retaking SAT I, take it as close as possible to your previous SAT I dates (so yeah, do it in October).

So far, I’ve only taken US History (770). I’m definitely taking Math II, but I can’t decide on a last test. Do you think I should take Literature, Spanish, or Chemistry? I did well in those classes, but I’ve heard that all three of them are hard, especially Chemistry because calculators aren’t allowed.

And Consolation and Epaminondas- thanks for all your help!

The people I know who did very well on the SAT CR also did well on Literature. I think that would be a good bet for you. Take a practice test and see.

Ideally, if you already have a 770 in US History I would take Math II and Chem. But the suggestion to do some practice tests and see how you do is a good one.

Thanks for the advice 1ofeach and Consolation. I’ll definitely take a few practice tests before I decide which exams to take.
