ADVICES ((DESPERATELY)) needed--choosing a college!

now that we are done with all the admission processes,
we are left with just "making a choice" part.
but who knew it would be this hard!
i'm in desperate need of help! what would you guys do if you were me?
any detailed personal reasons will be appreciated :]

University of the Pacific 5 year accel pharm
UCLA
USC
UCSD

UOP--I loooved the campus. it was the prettiest campus I've ever seen so far. People were super nice. Small campus. only bummer is that it's located in Stockton, where there is absolutely nothing to do. well, you can drive for an hour and half and get to san francisco, but if I do take the 5 year program, i heard all you do is study, study, study. so i wouldn't even have time to leave the campus anyway. :( i dont think i want to do that. the students there already scared me enough. no real weekends, no real summer, no real nothing. im sure you get to take a break once in a while, but you should be ready to devote yourself to pharmacology--internship during summer, extremely rigorous courses, etc etc. Yes, they are extremely well-known for pharm, get thousands of applicants, have great faculty & great learning environment, and offer guaranteed great recruitment even in your third, fourth year.. but.. what about my college life?! real bummer. i dont konw if i would want to do that. OH, by the way, great food . and at least I'll have a nice view everyday.. ha. ha. ha.

UCLA--eh, i dont know if i want to go here. nice name. super fun. but nothing else really. UCSD has way better science program anyway. I should research more. this school's a "maybe." I'll visit during spring break and see.

USC--well, this has been my dream school until this year. it kind of died out. I still kind of want to go though. but if i go, I'll be joining them in the middle of the school year. (spring 2008 admittant) real bummer. and last time i went there, I didnt really like the atmosphere. No offense, but people there seemed like "rich kids" in a bit negative way. I know i will be able to enjoy my life there tho. Real great school pride, nice faculty, sports, much to do outside of school, etc etc. but i didnt relaly feel comfortalbe witht he people there. maybe i'll feel differently once I attend there. Doing some other stuff during fall would be nice too. but, it will be super expensive. im still waiting for their financial aid plan. I should visit once more before I decide on anything.

UCSD--If i just don't consider anything, and just think about the atmosphere and school, i would definitely choose this school. I really liked the atmosphere. Although poeple say that this school is really nerdy, when I visited there, it didnt seem that bad. Peopel were friendly and had many active clubs. People seemed to have fun while keeping up with studying. not much partying (which would distract me like crazy) yet balancing some fun with education. I liked the campus too. Great science programs will help me advance in my academic area.. but UoP's 5 year thing is too tempting to just choose this school.

okay this is it. that was my whole story. It seems logical that I choose UoP because it's a crazy good opportunity. and I don't even have to pay cus I got regeants for that school. but.. I didn't like the location AT ALL, and it seemed really boring (no offense).. ANDD I have to devote my 5 years + no college life. hm :( im so sad. which one would YOU choose? I just want different perspectives and oppinions.

Try to just forget all of the colleges you were accepted by. Then make a list of what you want at your ideal school, the kind of list you make when deciding what schools to apply to. When you finish the list, compare it to all of the schools that accepted you. Go to the school that best fits the list.

i think i narrowed it down to ucsd and uop
would dying for 5 years worth all the things I'm missing out? (ex. college life)

would taking undergraduate year slow hurt me in the end?

well...i got into the 5 year dental program at uop. You could always just change to the 6 year program if you're worried about studying too much or not having a college life. I think that's what i'm going to do.

amismartenough: did you go to the honors day thing? and do you know anything about the social life at uop? I went to the honors day but the place seemed really dead other than club stuff. They couldnt really give us any information about "stuff to do outside of school." That was such a "turn off" haha.

actually, i was at honors day and did the overnight thing. It all really depends on what kind of social life you want. I don't know if you did the overnight program, but all of the people that I met were really friendly and happy. Alot of them were predents and prepharms too. As for the social life, if you like spending time with friends then that's a good thing for uop. If you want to go to parties or have alot of fun things to do in the city, then you might not like the school.

im wondering if you are the girl who i met at honors day. haha. could be. haha

im still deciding. oh gosh this is so hard..

probably not....haha...i'm a guy

haha okayy nvm
