Advise for which math to take?

I plan to transfer from a ccc to UCD or UCLA for economics as my major, but the problem is that for UCLA it seems I have to take CALC 1 and 2, whereas for UCD you take just one course of Survey of Calc. for the math requirement. Do you think if I take the Survey of Calc. instead of the 1&2 series UCLA will still consider me?

I’m pretty sure UCLA will want the calculus series if that’s what they’re asking for. If you didn’t take it and got accepted you would just have to take it once there. Also keep in mind how competitive UCLA econ major is for transfer, they have a 14% acceptance rate and 1300 applicants so not having calc done will really lessen your chances in this case imo

To be honest, if you don’t take the 1/2 series for UCLA, I don’t think you’ll get in, especially considering the fact that acceptance into econ at UCLA is very competitive.

If UCLA requires you to take Calc 1 and 2, you need to take Calc 1 and 2. I’m not sure what’s unclear about that.

It sucks, but you need to take all the courses required for all the schools/programs you want to get into, even if one doesn’t require something but another one does.

If you want to go on to PhD study in economics, you will want to take more advanced math anyway (e.g. multivariable calculus, linear algebra, differential equations).

Always, always take the STEM option when in doubt.

If you decide to change your major to something STEM related in the future that survey of calc class will be totally useless.
