Like a lot of others I'm sure, I'm going to be needing to speak to advisors at orientation about what classes to take, requirements, etc. I've heard from a friend at UT that the advisors at orientation are horrible, not just unlikable or not very nice, but HORRIBLE. Perhaps she was just unlucky and had a bad advisor at her freshman orientation? I don't know, so if anyone is willing to share their opinion of orientation advisors please do. I'd understand if they were tired/irritated from having to speak with so many students but in the conversation I had with this friend she just didn't have anything good to say about them, so I'm a little worried.

The ones I talk to were nice enough, but I don’t even remember what they told me. You don’t really have much freedom freshman year anyways, I know my major basically told you what you were taking.

It depends on your major. If you’re an undeclared liberal arts major, you aren’t going to be getting the university’s best advisors. If you’re in honors, you will be.

But if you come with some semblance of an idea of what classes you want to take and don’t waste the advisor’s time it should be fine.
