As a second semester freshman constructing my schedule, I know that I have a huge interest in business management, so AEM 1200 seems like a clear choice (description here: Courses of Study 2010-2011 )

However, after hearing about other peoples experiences in the class during the spring, to say that I'm nervous and considering dropping the class is an understatement. I hear that his exam questions are extraordinarily tricky and the grading is unnecessarily tough for an intro class. Could anyone who has heard things about the class, or has taken it personally please shed some light?

His quizzes/exams can be quite…tricky, but with enough effort you should be able to get at least a B+. Most of the information you’ll need is in the lectures, although the books certainly don’t hurt to supplement them.

I took AEM 1200 last Spring…the exams are certainly ambiguous, but not impossible. You can study from your notes/his powerpoints alone (which pretty much come straight out of the textbook), and there is an opportunity for extra credit at the end of the semester (although be forewarned, it’s quite an extensive group project). I don’t regret taking it, but it definitely requires a decent amount of effort for an intro class.

I’ve been having the same conflict about whether or not to take this class. does he provide powerpoints and stuff on blackboard or do you just have to go to all the lectures and take really detailed notes?

He does post lecture slides on Blackboard, or at least did so for the folks who took it in the fall semester. I don’t see why he would change his habit now.
