AEM acceptance rate.

The 10~15% acceptance rate really makes me worried about applying, but it exactly what I want to do. (Will compete nationally in economics/business). I am a pretty good student, but will early decision help, and if it does how much?

that’s tough. what is it for wharton???

ED always helps!

ED may help but are you NY resident? If yes, go for it. If no, very tough.

It helped for me. I got in with a 2100 and a 3.7.

It’s really not much different compared to Arts and Sciences, Cornell, and specifically AEM/CAS/AAP have very low acceptance rates.

The more popular the school (e.g., USNWR ranking), the less likely ED confers an admissions advantage over RD. The difference between ED and RD acceptance rates at these schools is mostly due to the differences between the features of the two populations.

My cousin is currently in AEM and told me it is really hard to get in. Not only because they accept about 100 students, but also because many of the spots are taken by recruited athletes who apply early decision. Usually at least 15-20 spots are taken by athletes if not more some years. So there are really only about 80 spots open. GL though and if you love Cornell than apply anyway. Show them that you are passionate about the school. I also got to meet and know one of the assistant admission deans at CAS and he says for primary/alternate choice the school doesn’t look at you any differently so econ is a good backup plan for you too.

just a clarification: they accept more than 100 students. the freshman class usually ends up being around 100, but that means they usually accept around 200. that bit about the recruited athletes is true though.

and no matter what anyone says, ED helps A LOT. a LOT of the students in AEM that i know applied ED.

it doesnt hurt to apply, especially if it’s what you really want to do. just try to show that in your essay.

hilariousimlolin: Any international students get financial aid from AEM ??? How many AEM international students in your class 2013?

THAIDUYBINH: there are international students in AEM, but the international students who i know that got finaid are only Canadian students (i dont know enough real international students to be able to tell you). i would say there are about…10-15% international…?

Early decision can definitely help, especially if you’re a NY Resident. This thread worries me a bit since I plan on applying RD to AEM, and it is one of my top choices.

Thanks hilariousimlolin, I am right to decide not to apply for AEM  I an international who needs Financial aid

THAIDUYBINH: what i meant to say is that i dont know if international students get aid, not that they definitely dont. it’s a question you should ask the finaid office.

runi27: get the right teachers to write your recs and show your “top choice” passion in your essay. im not a NY resident and i applied RD, and most students ARE still from RD.
