AEM with a bad class rank?

Hey guys,

So, I was wondering if I have a chance at AEM being in the top 20% of my class. I am Hispanic, have amazing EC's (President of 4 clubs and I do a lot outside of school) and letters from influential people. I still have to take my SATS, but score is projected at 2100. GPA is 3.6 unweighted 3.9 weighted on a 4.0 scale. I'm debating on applying ED. Will my GPA and Class Rank kill me? I'm from NJ....thanks guys! Btw, any current Cornell students, how do you like it there? I'll be visiting this summer.

anyone…

yeah, 20% isn’t a dealbreaker…CALS is one of the more forgiving schools with regards to objective stats.

Yes, but AEM specifically is extremely competitive.

Right now your chances look low. You still have a chance, more so if you apply early decision. It is hard to say until you get an actual SAT score. You need to knock it out of the park though, aim for a solid 1450+ Critical reading and math score (cornell does not look at writing).

Btw, president of 4 clubs is not ‘amazing.’ Can you elaborate more? Your EC’s are most likely average or above average at best.

Besides being president of four clubs…
State officer in a business organization for two years
Around 7 awards some on a national level
I got accepted with a full scholarship to penns startalk academy.
I tutor international students at an ivy league university (getting a letter of reccomendation from the director of the program )
Do you guys recommend doing anything else?
A few school awards

Sent from my SPH-D710 using CC

Yeah, lose the Samsung.

I got an email my class rank was top 15%…does this make a difference?

Has anyone gotten into AEM that was not in the top 10% of their class?
