Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering

I was wondering if anyone would be able to provide me with lists of schools for both aerospace and aeronautical engineering. Rankings lists would be helpful as well. Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot. Does someone have a list for aeronautical?

Check out Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University:

I don't believe there are separate rankings for aerospace and aeronautical engineering -- even US News lumps them together.

Could anyone please post the US news rankings as well? Thanks.

aerospace is aeronautical+astronautical.
usnews is something like:
1 Massachusetts Inst. of Technology
2 Georgia Institute of Technology *
3 University of Michigan–Ann Arbor *
4 Stanford University (CA)
5 California Institute of Technology
6 Purdue Univ.–West Lafayette (IN)* best one!
6 U. of Illinois–Urbana-Champaign *
8 Princeton University (NJ)
9 University of Texas–Austin *
10 Cornell University (NY)
10 Univ. of Maryland–College Park *
12 Texas A&M Univ.–College Station *
13 Pennsylvania State U.–University Park *
14 Virginia Tech *
15 University of Washington *
16 Univ. of California–Los Angeles *
16 Univ. of Southern California
16 University of Colorado–Boulder *

Embry Riddle for best undergraduate degree.

And the upside is that at ERAU one can also earn a commercial pilot's license and/or minor in Aviation Science (as my son is :D )

false. Embry is the best for schools taht only offer bachelors or masters, typically worse schools than the ones in the list above. don't get me wrong though, embry is a very good school. please just don't compare it to MIT.

typically worse school

Really? Am I wasting my money? I'll have him transfer before the fall.

my first gut reaction was that you are being facetious, but if you are not then i would say, from my research, the smaller schools tend to not have the research and money that the larger doctorate granting schools have (e.g. the list above). thus the larger schools tend to be better than the schools that Embry is in list with. however, that is only to a certain extent. I would go to Embry before i would go to #25 on the doctorate list without any hesitation. Embry is a fantastic school.
if you were being sarcastic, there is really no need for that.

Yeah, you're right. CHeck my post on your other thread. I apologize.

i would say anyone can admit that MIT is in a league of its own

But said person would be wrong. Obviously there are fields where they lead, but in such cases, the second place schools can hold their own, and are pretty damn equal. And, as far as general science/tech speciality schools, it is at least on the same level as Harvey Mudd and Caltech. A case could be made to include Rose Hulman, Olin, and Cooper Union to that list.

i would say those schools that you listed, with the exception of caltech, would not be as good as stanford, illinois or purdue. you would have to list those before you list the smaller schools. and yes, in aerospace engineering, MIT is truly the top school in the world. yes, world, i dont want to hear IIT this or IIT that.

"i would say anyone can admit that MIT is in a league of its own"

When MIT engineers face off against HMC engineers we'll know who is in what league. Until then, all we can do is speculate...
