Aerospace Engineering Student with a few questions....

Hello CC members:

I am about to finish up my 2nd undergraduate year of Aerospace Engineering. Due to some external issues, I burnt out a little this year and my GPA is now possibly going to be a 3.0. I have little experience to make up for this: I had an undergraduate data processing job for essentially a semester, a summer job, and a high school internship with a radio station.

My first major question is this: Would I be better off sticking through the major with a low GPA, or go into some other major that I'll probably hate to start off on a clean slate?

Second: Chances are that, since I'm just about to get into the actual core classes, that my GPA will probably stay between a 3.0 and a 3.3. As far as good advice for what to expect after graduation: Are my chances for a job essentially gone? I have received contradicting advice on this; some big company representatives have told me that anything below a 3.5 WITH a highly active extracurricular/job life will not get you through the door. However, a cousin of mine who is in industry says that there's many engineers that work with him that didn't even have a 3.0.

I plan on staying with this major for as long as I can; I can't fathom doing anything else with my life, so I don't want to abandon this. However, I don't want to end up setting myself up with getting a highly specific degree and being unable to step into a career with said degree.

Thank you very much!
