Aerospace Engineering?

Hello!

I'm an international student (Canada) and I got accepted to UIUC Aerospace Engineering as a sophomore transfer a few days ago. That being said, I'm paying for the entirety of my education by myself/ with student loans. I know that the Aerospace program at UIUC is one of the best, but is it worth ~$150,000 of debt by the time I graduate?

I'm currently studying at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, and if I stay at UBC I will be studying Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Thermofluids... would it be a better idea for me to just stay here?

// Any opinions & info about the program in general would be greatly appreciated :)

Thank you!

Aerospace Engineering at UIUC is an outstanding program and it’s grads are recruited by top companies in the industry. Having said that, taking on 150k in debt before you get a job is not a good idea. Mech and Aero are very closely related. My recommendation would be to stay where you are for your undergrad, then pursue a masters in Aerospace Engineering if that’s where you’d like to focus. Both Mechs and Aeros are recruited for many of the same jobs.
