Aerospace Engineering

Hello,

I’m thinking about transferring to ASU in the fall for Aerospace Engineering and I’m wondering about the program. Is there anyone here that is in the program or heard about it? If you are in it, how do you like it? What are the positives and negatives? What projects/ hands-on assignments do you get to work on? Any feedback would be great.

Thanks

Hmmm I get the feeling there aren’t any aerospace engineering majors on here

I know a few people in aerospace. The first two years you will take general classes like calculus, linear algebra, chemistry, circuits, mechanics, etc. But after that, the classes get more hands-on and actually give you a breadth of knowledge. My friend showed me this computer work he was doing last semester where he designed an engine using this program that they actually use at Boeing, MD, etc…it was actually really cool.

Positives: Opportunities to do research at the university, getting published looks great for grad school. You are nearby major aerospace/aeronautical corporations including Boeing, General Dynamics, McDonnel Douglas, etc. which can mean internships or jobs after college

Negatives: Foreign professors, bad TAs, strict grading (but I feel like these are the same no matter which engineering school you attend).
