Just to start, sorry if this post is in the wrong spot, I wasn’t sure where to post. Essentialy, I’m struggling which engineering major to choose. Without a doubt aerospace is my passion and I have always loved anything related to flight, but I’m worried about job stability and availabilty. I’m aware that mechanical engineering is fairly similar to aerospace, and has broader and more stable applications. So what I’m asking, is what engineerimg major would I be best off in, and have the most luck finding a stable career in.
Mechanical Engineering!
MechE is more marketable, but often at some schools you can do MechE and also take some AeroE classes.
Will you be coming in with usable AP credits that could make some space in your schedule for add’l classes?
In an earlier thread, you mentioned that you didn’t have test scores. Do you have them now?
Have your parents said how much they’ll pay each year?
At UA (and other schools) you can see their ‘finish in four’ plan for both majors, and take courses that overlap - and you can decide after you begin college. If you believe you will be strong on AeroEng, start with that.
Contrary to popular belief, the employment and predicted growth rates are roughly the same for both Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. You can enjoy a stable career, with good prospects in either area. The two degrees share the same core classes, and it is quite easy to crosstrain in the other discipline.
Pick whichever major interests you the most!
