aerospace specialization

I have been thinking hard and trying to see what specialization in aerospace engineering suits me most for grad school. I am also paying attention to potential career opportunities with the different specializations also though.

Currently I find orbital mechanics the most interesting. I did an interplanetary mission design project and it was a lot of fun, but I am worried there are few employment opportunities if I choose to specialize in this. It seems like the near future in the space industry is satellites, low earth orbit, rather than interplanetary. Would the only employment choice be JPL/NASA (and it perhaps might be competitive or have few positions too). Do you think I should pursue this instead of something with more options such as propulsion or controls, assuming I get into a good graduate program doing orbital mechanics?

Thanks.

Pursue what you enjoy the most. If orbital mechanics is your passion, then do it. It is a subset of the D&C area of aerospace, which is certainly in demand.
