If you are on the CC team or track team can you please tell me how i stand??

My mile time is 4:55, and my 3 mile time is 17:00 flat. and i still have one year left and am expecting to get down into the low 4:40s and the low 16:00s?

thanks very much
srry if im a hassle

Scholarship? What do you mean? You do know the govt picks up the tab for this -- for everyone. You "pay" with your committment.

Sorry dude I dont understand what your talking about

Yes you can. Contact coach Stanforth with your times. You will be able to try out, and if you make it join the team in the fall. Mark.Stanforth@usafa.af.mil

Look at the kind of times that the current runners on the team ran in high school, that should give you a good idea of what they are looking for.

No one pays to goto the Academy. Monetarily its free, however there is a service commitment to the military after graduation.

Yes Dolphin. That's why I didn't understand your (Almost_Nick's)question about a "scholarship." Asking about one w/ respect to a service academy is like asking: "Are you married or do you live in the country?" it just didn';t make sense to me.

If the AF wants you for a team, they don't give you a "scholarship," since it's already free of (monetary) charge...they just help you get in. If you get in regardless of sports, it's still "free." (chuckle....)

As for trying out for the team, yes...you can. Not sure what the standards are, but people do it.

Do you get to pick what intramurals you participate in or are you stuck with the leftovers?

You choose Intramurals. I chose frisbee last semester, and I'm doing volleyball this semester. It's a lot of fun!

AS a freshman, there's a chance you may get bumped into an intramural that was not your choice if the upperclassmen want everything else. Depends on your squadron. Last semester I was put in rugby which was definitely not what I wanted...but this semester I got softball, my first choice...so it depends.
