AFA vs West Point

I’ve applied and been accepted to both West Point and the Air Force Academy and I have to decide by Friday which one I will be attending. Have any of you had to face this issue, and what helped you decide?

What do you want to do as a career? Do you want to fly, infantry...etc?

Do you want to run through the desert of do you want to fly over it?

That's what you should base your decision on. I was accepted to USNA and USAFA and I chose USAFA because I want to fly and don't especially want to be on boats. If I can't fly I want to do something in engineering or special forces. Air Force has all the research and development and also Combat Controllers so that service fit me best.

Whoa! Yeah, I've been accepted to West Point and AFA too. I choose AFA because the air force is known to treat their people better. Well, in the air force too, they are sending airmen to fight along side the soldiers too on the ground at Iraq and elsewhere.

Talk about PLUSH!! I spent the night at an AF BOQ the other night...wow. even the concrete was soft

lol,NAP06, of course we do! We even have a carpet in our dorm!

Notice they call it a dorm and not a barracks...;)

Yep...big difference.

The academies aren't THAT different...whats different is life afterwards. Air Force or Army. Personally I think the choice is easy.

Same pay to either sleep under a tank and run through the desert and swamp or to sleep in a bed and fly a jet over both. (Exaggerating, please dont take me seriously. :P)

It's all about what you want your military career to be.

This is a personal choice that nobody can answer for you. To some, the AF life just does not appeal at other. For others, the same is true of Army. The opportunities and lifestyles after graduation are so completely different that, in general, only one fits a specific person.

true, true.
