Affiliation, finaid, and distance?

I'm looking at transferring to Gettysburg for fall 2007. Unfortunately, I was just at the battlefield in October and didn't tour the college, though I did drive around it a little bit.

First, can someone tell me a bit about the college's Lutheran affiliation? How does it show itself on campus? Are campus events held in a chapel? Are there prayers at any time?

Also, the endowment is relatively small when compared to the other LACs I'm looking at, though the tuition is lower than most. How decent is financial aid?

Finally, I'm from Connecticut, and would likely want to go home multiple times a year. Although I was just down there, it was part of a week-long road trip, and therefore it's hard for me to guesstimate the driving distance directly back to Hartford. Is there anyone from New York City/New England who can give me an estimate? How far away is Gettysburg from the nearest Interstate? I know the town itself was nice, if a bit sleepy, but it was pouring when I was there and we barely did anything, so I can't even remember how long it took us to move on to the next place. Any insight is appreciated.

For distance calculations, Google Maps is your friend. Just click Directions, plug in your town, and then plug in "Gettysburg College, PA" (without quotes). They're quite good about finding colleges.

Oh, I know, but I'm wondering how long the actual drive would be -- should've specified that. MapQuest is never accurate with those sorts of things. (Actually, it's never accurate with anything in general...)
