Affirmative Action Question

So I'm an Asian according to the college app world

But I'm an Indian. (Indians are not Asians!! ) we look completely different from East Asians. Anyways I was born in India so were my parents. I have a unique case though my last name comes from Turkish backgrounds (middle eastern) which is really weird but whatever.

Anyways is it worth taking the risk to apply next year as a mixed race (white/Asian ) or should I be candid with the stupid app and put Asian. I hope you understand this May sound silly, but I really want to increase my chances of getting into top colleges(I don't want something like my ethnicity reducing or in fact denying me admission from my dream colleges)

Thanks for reading this! Please comment below..

Middle Eastern is still Asian? Am I missing something here? I thought the Middle East is considered as Asian… Since when has the Middle East been referred to as “white”?

Middle Easteners aren’t Asian, they’re Arab, which if I had to label it anything would be African/Mediterranean.

OP Indians are definitely Asian, but the worry about being lumped in with Oriental Asians is unfounded because Common App asks you to specify your Asian background by country. From there, simply check “India” There should be an option to do something similar on other apps, too
