<p>If the issue were only “black people are too poor”, that’d be fine. But socioeconomic situation’s just a symptom, not the problem. The problem is race.</p>
<p>Race is why, even after controlling for socioeconomic status, Blacks have consistently tested worse than whites on virtually all standardized tests.</p>
<p>Race is why, even though 2/3 of all crack cocaine users are white/hispanic, in the oast 84.5% of the defendants convicted of crack cocaine possession were black while 10.3% were white and 5.2% were Hispanic.</p>
<p>Race is why a white person generally gets a better deal from negotiations with car salesmen than a black person does.</p>
<p>Most poor people are white. But they don’t deal with the same problems black america faces.</p>
<p>I do think there should be a socioeconomic AA in conjuction with a racial one. This will help ensure that more poorer blacks are admitted, as well as that more poorer whites are also represented.</p>

<p>On every objective measure, life sucks for us. </p>
<p>We are more unlikely to be happy, more poor, less educated, more conservative. We will have a harder time finding true love, or a good job. Anything we are ever remembered for doing will also be supplemented with the memory that we are black. </p>

Even over 1/10th of the way of the 21st century with a half black president leading our country for two terms, racism is far from over.</p>
