Affordable colleges for STEM students

Hey Guys! What are some affordable colleges on the east coast (VA,PA,NY,CT,NJ,NC) for a 3.717 (3.72) GPA: 2000+ SAT ?

What is your home state? What STEM major (if you have any idea)? Did you take the PSAT?

What’s your home state?

Do you need an accredited engineering program or will having good math and science departments be adequate?

Are you a National Merit semifinalist?

EDIT: GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE (SEE #2).

Maryland, Biochem, and nope .

Just referring to colleges with good science/tech programs

In-state: UMD, UMBC, St. Mary’s
Out-of-state: SUNY Buffalo, Geneseo, Stony Brook

Would UMCP, UMBC at in-state cost of attendance and financial aid be affordable?

Virginia Tech, NCSU, and Stony Brook have relatively low out-of-state costs of attendance, though since you did not state your price limit, it is not clear whether these would be affordable.

There are probably some schools in the http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1348012-automatic-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships.html</a> that will work, although you may have to relax the location constraint.

Debbyokay- look at Alabama. It is south, but your student would qualify for really good automatic scholarship there. We are from maryland, and found it to be the best value for our student. Awesome programs too.

What is the cr/math score?

Sent from my DROID RAZR using CC

Affordable looking for merit aid? Or is need based aid an option? Is your EFC affordable?

What county are you in? How advanced are you already in math and science?

*Let me start off by saying that I’ve already Narrowed down my college list. I am a Maryland resident, and my list consists of LACs and U’s.

I am a rising senior interested in Majoring in Biology/Neurobiology and minoring in philosophy/political science.
I have a 3.8 W/3.7 UW GPA
We’re only allowed to take 2 APs in junior year at my school, so I took 1 , scored a 4 on the test.

Have not taken the ACT, my test date is in October
I will retake the SAT in October as well, my superscore was 2100.

I have lots of leadership in school/church

What amount is affordable for you? How much will your parents pay?

Have you gotten any new scores yet?

What is your best Math + CR from ONE sitting?

If you need merit scholarship money, how much do you need?

I agree that you should apply to Bama as a financial safety for you. It sounds like you’d either get a full tuition or a 2/3 tuition scholarship (depending on your M+CR). These are assured scholarships for your stats…as long as you apply by Dec 1.

Bama has BioChem in two depts…biology and chemistry. Your choice. Bama has a brand new mega sized Science and Engineering Complex.

Are you still interested in becoming a PA?

There are tons of schools that have strong stem majors including biochem. College Navigator came up with a list of 481. You need more criteria to narrow it down.
