Affordable Schools for my Situation

@Larkin29 I agree with previous poster about Cincinnati. It checks many of your boxes and if you get Cincinnatus Excellence (tied to NMF finalist status) your in-state tuition and housing are covered. You would only pay for food, books, extras (which by the way are easily $5k if you live on campus). Plus in-state you don’t have high travel costs. The other attribute of UC is co-op income. As a co-op you get paid and gain experience working in your chosen field. For any of the NMF linked awards you have to be very on top of the schools’ requirements. The competition for these awards is growing and many schools want students to specify their school as NMF first choice as early as March 1 of senior year.

The rest of my two cents…If you don’t like Oxford, OH you won’t like Truman State (Kirksville, MO). Boston U gives $20k for Presidential and Northeastern up to $30k, but the cost of tuition is so high (and housing too) that merit aid isn’t enough to make it affordable. I have heard that OH State merit is good and often better than what Cincinnati offers to most applicants.
