Was accepted into Xavier yesterday!
So class of 2019, where have you all applied and been accepted? We are quickly approaching National decision day! My dd is still waiting to hear back about some key scholarships, but overall I am proud of her accomplishments and I am elated that this process is almost over
Accepted into XULA with an invitation into their Honors Program. Applied to Wellesley, Barnard, Fordham, Spelman, Howard, UC Santa Cruz, Whittier College, Clark Atlanta, XULA, and I have to apply to Agnes Scott ASAP!!
Accepted into Spelman (Honors program, no aid), MTSU (Buchanan Fellow, full ride), Emory (University Scholar Finalist), and a few small state schools that Iām not really considering.
What is up with Spelman and the no/limited aid? I have been seeing this same trend for the past few years. No aid, unless you consider a large loan package.
Has XULA been more generous with aid?
I GOT INTO SPELMAN!!! I havenāt gotten my financial aid package yet from XULA. Where do I look to find it?
@magnetnh Yes, XULA has been generous with FA.
I applied to XULA a few years ago and received substantial aid. It was merit aid and I waited until the last minute to apply, so itās safe to say XULA is generous with FA as long as you have the stats!
The aid for Spelman has been my Pell Grant, a small institutional grant, and $40k+ in parent plus loans
Bummerā¦
Maybe the Bonner Scholars Program will come through, but probably not.
Hello all. Jumping in late into the thread, but my DD did 4 fly ins- Haverford, Bucknell, Franklin & Marshall, and Lehigh.
She applied to 15 schools. Sheās definitely on the bubble for many, because her SAT scores are a little low, but everything else is amazing.
5 acceptances so far and should know the rest in the next few weeks!
Accepted into USC (presidential scholarship finalist), Northeastern (honors college and scholarship), UVA (Full ride Ridley Scholarship finalist), Fordham (pretty much no aid), Spelman (very minimal aid), Virginia tech, UMBC (meyerhoff, which I didnāt attend, and 9k scholarship), Case western (great scholarship and aid). Still waiting on NYU, Cornell, BU, Barnard, University of San Francisco, WashU, and Drexel.
I also did Barnard and WashU fly ins, wish I did more.
Itās been really interesting to watch this process. My D19 was accepted into UGA (Zell Miller plus $2K/yr āincentive scholarship), Georgia Tech (Zell Miller), University of Missouri (Honors college, Brooks Scholarship), University of Maryland (Honors, Banneker/Key semifinalist), University of Miami (Honors, Singer full tuition scholarship), Vanderbilt (to date, no scholarship money), waiting on Duke and WashUSt.Louis - but without any merit scholarship notifications at either. Without merit at Vandy, Duke, and Wash U (if accepted), they will not work. Because she wants out of state, real choice is between UMiami and UMD.
Updates:
Admitted into Fordham ($14k in aid)
UC Santa Cruz (not sure yet on aid)
Accepted into WashU on Thursday and got a diversity likely letter from Cornell! I donāt have one rejection, which is crazy! I just have to decide between Cornell, WashU, and USC. The only thing that could tip the scales is if I get the UVA full ride (definitely going to commit) or if NYU offers really good aid.
Got my financial aid package from my instate UC and itās almost close to a full ride. Iām having internal tears rn becaus I was extremely worried about paying for college since my acceptances have been greeted with bad financial packages due to my need.
@catova Congratulations! Are you still waiting on Barnard btw?
@SuperBigMusicLover yes I am, I just got an email that said it comes out on the 22.
@catova Me too! Iām so nervous. Good luck!
