I applied to
Emory
Rice (my father went and taught there)
Upenn
Dartmouth
Cornell
Duke

I have taken the hardest courses possible
What are my chances?

bump bumpity bump

Depends on a couple things. If you go to a top school you are in good shape. I hope you didnt send your SAT2s if you didnt have to! Also, take the match 1c. Its much easier than 2c and will make it so you have three scores in the 600+ range, rather than dipping into the 500s.

Dartmouth, Penn, Duke...one might work out. Emory should be a lock. Cornell, Rice = good shot.

yes, i go to a blue ribbon school in texas.

It's one of the best

anyone else?

Devil May Cry 1 is much better than 2, daunte owns all of us!!!
i loved his shot gun, unlimited ammo.
and when he gets the fire fists, he does crazyd damages. Man, that game is a classic.

of course he does. Now, talk about my CHANCES!

Your weighted GPA is amazing, and you've really challenged yourself throughout high school. Your ACT of 32 is decent--it's probably equivalent to an SAT score in the lower/mid-1400's. DON'T send your SAT II scores unless you take more exams and do well on them to offset the previous scores, which were so-so. I'd think that a person with your grades would have a higher rank, but you must go to an extremely competetive h.s. You're also very well rounded and skilled in many areas--athletics, music, community service, and academics. Make sure to have your music teacher send a rec for you. Maybe have the supervisor of volunteering at St. Lukes send a rec for you. Even if you're not going to major in music, send your guitar and trombone recordings.

Here is my Safety/Match/Reach breakdown for you
Emory: M
Rice: S (b/c of connections)
Penn: M/R
Dartmouth: R
Cornell: M
Duke: M

Hope this helps!

Did you apply ED/EA anywhere? That helps b/c it shows demonstrated interest in the school.

A good shot at emory and rice; decent shots at the rests. Taking the most challenging course load will be a definite plus. Are you a strong writer?

Edit: Elbereth's advice is excellent - you should consider the sound suggestions.

i appreciate these suggestions. Yes, my school is soooo hard. Last year, my friend with a 4.9 was ranked 33. Im 5.26 and 41!

Does it hurt a lot that my daddy does not send money. HE sucks lol

However, he taught there for many years.

haha, although he hasnt sent any cash, he has contributed, and im sure that when they see that , that will give u an automatic edge over everyone w/o connections. oh i had pretty bad SAT2s also, but i was wondering id u retake em ( retook mineyesterday), and send in new and better scores, will they forget about the old ones?

yeah, they'll consider only the highest. Aye, are my scores THAT bad?

Except for the math, i thought i did ok.

DAMN!

haha no theyre nto bad, mine were worse. nonethless, good luck u got a great shot. i hope not all blacks applyin to C-nell, and Upenn r like you! im clinically retarded compared to the people on this website.

lol, all these guys are overachievers. Im intimidated myself

How heavy do they weight your GPA! A 3.5 can become a 5.2?

i have no no idea how it works. lol my class has the highest grades ever tho, so it sucks to be me.

By the way, my friend Kevin in NYc got into Cornell w/

1050 SATs
took some honors couses
worked through high school

btw, he's black lol

lol, u serious? thats me right there....was he disadvantaged?

Regular courses are graded on a 4-point scale, i.e. an A=4, but Honors and AP courses are on a 5-point scale, i.e. an A=5.

All of your A's in AP and Honors courses have earned you a weighted 5+ GPA.

I wonder if adcomms will question why there is such a difference between your AP/Honors grades and SAT scores? Will they question how strong the AP/Honors curriculum is at your HS?

Wow...a 1050 is over 200 points below Cornell's 25th %ile. Did Kevin have any hooks besides being black? Like unusual talents or something like that? Was he first person from his family to attend a 4-year college/university? Ivy League admissions counselors are on the prowl for students like that.

My brother (who currently is a sophomore at Harvard) went to an accepted students open house at Yale in spring break '03. He met a remarkable Hispanic boy who was at the top of his h.s. class, was in a lot of leadership roles, and was the first person in his family to go to college. Ok, so he might have had a low SAT score (mid-1100s) but he had to work really hard to support his family, so he certainly deserved it.

i was wondering the same thing, my SAT scores were weak, but the IB progran at my school is strong, as it is practically everywhere since schools have to qualify in order to offer the program.
