Hello,
I am wondering if any one knows the average (or exact number) amount of blacks - broken down my male and female that break into various SAT/ACT/SATII ranges. For example, 900-1000, 1100-1200, 1200-1300,1300-1400, 1500-1600 etc.
Of course anywhere these statistics are available would be great too.Various years are even better.

The info is here:
Lots of reports here on the College Board dsite, including by race, ethnicity: http://www.collegeboard.com/research/home/

Also look at the Journal of Blacks in Higher Education's site. If you can get your hands on the journal itself, it is the only place that I have found that shows black students' results on the SAT II, and on AP tests. Some of this may be on the online site, too.

There's a Washington Post article, fall, 2003, that quotes some stats on high scoring blacks on the SAT. For instance, that year, fewer than 100 blacks scored above 1500 on the SAT I. You will have to pay a couple of bucks to the Wash. Post to buy the article, but it is worth it. It also about how colleges go out of their way to recruit high scoring blacks and Hispanics. When it comes to such groups, attaining a 1300 or higher puts one in the range of being seriously recruited by places like Amherst.

Check my back posts as I have quoted some of the stats on black students.

I'm sorry, but my search of the college board website wasn't successful - I tried looking at it in the past as well but couldnt find the relevent statistics. Could you point me to them please?

I am wondering where the wallstreet journal etc gets those statistics because I have never seen them published by the college board itself as an additional question - I think the two will be solved at the same time though.

anyone have any info on the average stats of minorities/african americans applying to Ivy league schools? or other top tier schools for that matter?

*According to the College Board, 1,877 African American students nationwide scored higher than 1300 out of a possible 1600 on the SAT last year, compared with nearly 150,000 students overall who achieved that score. Minority students with higher SAT scores have become the target of frenzied competition between state and private colleges. *
