some people are still in denial. cut them some slack!

Goodness all of a sudden everyone wants to be Black/African American...at least until the cops show up.

For the record, Cops do not only harass african/american...the same treatment is done to caucasians

I'm not so sure about that...But the term is African Americans. THERE IS NO SLASH!

can you stop responding to my post so you won't have any reason to say im annoying!? SMH

Yea, 2 words for you, RODNEY KING....know any white people messed up like that???????

"African-American" in terms of the continent from which one's family has immigrated - however, with regard to college apps - the term is race-based (the exception is for Hispanics - and even here, many colleges make differentiations - tho, a person can be Mexican and caucasian).

Is it a crime for people to be self-interested and concerned about their own welfare?

It's well-known that being a member of a so-called "under-represented" group results in college admissions treatment that has been defined in many ways, some of which include the following:

A "holistic" consideration that includes all of what makes them who they are.

A "boost"

Preferential treatment

Positive discrimination

Note that "automatic admission" is absent from the list.

i dont get why that required 4 bullets, you said the same thing 3 times.

All he was saying was that people want to maximize, they want to be black but they only want the "positive" effects. If they had the choice to be black with both the good and the bad 99.9% of them would turn it down.

So um.... in post # 11 I wrote:

"I'm taking bets.... how many posts until this turns into an Affirmative Action argument.... Any takers?"

Somebody owes me some money......

not yet lol. i tried to steer the convo away from that one.

Tyler,

You don’t get it because I’ve found that even though your first post to me a few months ago was pretty hostile, of all the racial preference supporters here, you’re actually the most fair. You say a “boost,” “preferential treatment,” and “positive discrimination” are all the same thing. However, I have found that many of the other supporters here, particularly those who are parents, are very uncomfortable with the term “preferential treatment” and slightly uncomfortable with “positive discrimination.”

I believe you are the only one who has recognized that the statistics in California before and after Proposition 209 showed that Asians were discriminated against in undergraduate admissions.

thats what i like about you, i attack your point and you respond with a compliment.

Tyler,

Did you attack my point at all? You simply opined that three of the four things I said were the same, to which I complimented you for seeing that they are, in fact, the same. A lot of your fellow racial preference supporters think they're different.

So, you didn't attack my point. You attacked your fellow supporters for playing word games.

I'll assume your post had a bit of humor to it. Am I right, though?

Like I've said before, everything on this forum that has to do with URM's and race turns into a huge argument...

Fabrizio, leave him alone. Don't stoop down to his level.

wow, i honestly think some people just search this site looking for arguments about race. how sad.

what are you talking about so authentic, im pretty sure me and fabrizio were just talking about how we agreed....once again, NO CLUE.
