Hey, I was just wondering how many african-americans,(or other URM’s…Latino’s, Nativ Americans…etc) are matriculating to UCB this fall(or in the spring). What were your stats and ec’s?

One thing you should know is that race does not count in UC admissions because they aren't allowed to look at the box you checked when they're reading your application. (Statistics will be released in April, after they have decided.) They might be able to tell by your last name, but I doubt they even look at that. Instead, care about "social and economic disadvantages" which you might have had to overcome. You should talk about your struggle in your essays and if they give you the "borderline" questionnaire in March, provide ample evidence of having overcome some serious social dysfunction.

It's not really germane, but it works! :)

haha i know the UC's dont factor race into their admission decision, but i just want to know how many URM's are attending the university..and their stats...just because i want to..haah not because i think they got in because they are urm's

The percentages are pretty good, actually. I don't have a link, though.

That's good to hear. I was kinda wondering if there are any URM's on this board..that are attending the university?

dood. We need more diversity. Studies have shown that College Board picks and chooses what types of verbal logic questions to put (they got rid of the ones that Blacks did better than whites in a study that Harvard Educational Review did- ok so they beat us in ONE thing research wise) This was former Chancellor Chang Lin Tien and the Current Chancellor's wish.

damm u guys know in So Cal, They found thousand year old bones of a Black Tribe? The British came up with that one.

Thanks GSP for the link, i have already read it though. I'm just curious to see if there are any african americans on this board..but i guess not...well gsp are you attending? What are your stats?

Yes, there are African-Americans on this board. My son and I share the name buzzwick and have posted a few times. My son was admitted to CAL but decided on Harvard. It was a tough choice because both Universities are excellent, but CAL is so close (8 miles) and Harvard is an amazing opportunity. Ultimately, he decided if he does not like Harvard he might find it easier to transfer to his dream school: Stanford, than if he did not like Berkeley. Also, he probably has a lot more to learn than academics if he gets further away from home. Good luck at Cal, perhaps my son will be there for grad school!

COngrats on your sons acceptance to those wonderful universities. I bet he will be happy at HARVARD!
