<p>One thing you should know is that race does not count in UC admissions because they aren't allowed to look at the box you checked when they're reading your application. (Statistics will be released in April, after they have decided.) They might be able to tell by your last name, but I doubt they even look at that. Instead, care about "social and economic disadvantages" which you might have had to overcome. You should talk about your struggle in your essays and if they give you the "borderline" questionnaire in March, provide ample evidence of having overcome some serious social dysfunction. </p>
