Ribbons include Leadership, Achievement, Co-Curricular Leadership, Top Performer, Outstanding Cadet of the year (3 years), also i have been Cadet of the Quater 5 times and have earned the Distinguished Cadet Badge.

My instructors did some research a couple of weeks ago and have discovered that i am the most decorated cadet to ever have been in our unit. Established in 1976.

Im also in the National Honor Society and the Science National Honor Society.
I have been accepted to Norwich University (Physics) with a Dean's Scholarship of 15,000.

Now there is a down side. In my Sophomore year, my mother and step father forced me to cash fake payroll checks in order to feed there drug addiction. I was arrested and charged with 20 felony counts of obtain property by false pretense. It was disposed of and just was expunged last month. At first it was not waived, but after talking to my AFJROTC instructors, they gave me Captain Hoyer's (chief of the HSSP) phone number and i called her and explained the situation to her. She then talked to her leadership, and they waived it (apparently they did not look at my personal statement). Im not worried about it because it has been waived already, but i wanted to put it on here so you guys got the whole story.

Im probably going to attend Norwich with or without the scholarship, going with AFROTC. Hopefully i can get one in college. I was applying to USAFA but after i toured Norwich, i knew that was the right college for me.

When i get in the Air Force, i want to either fly or do combat control. but will ultimately do whatever the Air Force wants me to do.

Could someone just tell me how I look?

Try the academy sub forum.

I’m not sure if you are describing a waiver for AFJROTC or AFROTC, but it’s critically important that you be honest in the AFROTC interview, questionnaires and everything else going forward. The expungement won’t matter, but the other circumstances might, including your record since then. If you become an officer down the road, a security clearance investigation is probably in the cards. You might look at other ROTC branches, if it’s not too late. They all offer flight (of some type) and they all might view your circumstances differently.

There is also a service academy forums dot com that you could be looking at. More specialized than CC and many knowledgeable posters.

Regarding your stats, if you did 59 pushups in 1 minute, that was probably not the correct form according to ROTC. Something to practice on; you can’t activate the scholarship and receive money until you actually pass the PFT on campus per ROTC standards.

Good luck.

Way too late for NROTC.

I am very good at pushups, and I know people that can do over 60 in a min… Just to be clear I was only CHARGED (not convicted), it was thrown out of court. AFROTC has already waived it and Captain Hoyer told me that it will not be looked when the board meets. Thanks for the advice.

Grades and Test scores Up there to where last years acceptees’ marks? What is your major going to be? You do know that it makes a big difference whether you are in math or STEM tracks?

Those in your school involved with AFROTC should be able to tell you where you stand in terms of others who have gone this way before you in their program. That is one of the benefits of the jr ROTC programs. You are surrounded by those who can give you the advice in making the transition to College ROTC and helping you in term of packaging and procedure in the scholarship process. What were the stats of those who got full ROTC scholarship from your jr program in the past?

Looks like you have some awesome activities and leadership on your resume, and you’re planning a technical major, which should be helpful to your chances. Your ACT and GPA, while solid, may be what hold you back from the biggest scholarships. My DS14 is also interested in AFROTC and we met for a couple of hours with the Asst PAS at a big AFROTC det this summer, and the one major thing we learned is the emphasis they put on that test score. Last year, the average Type I scholarship recipient had an average ACT above a 32. In fact, those scholarships are now more competitive than academy appointments. I’m not sure about the other types, but those ACT averages were slightly lower. But, you’ve fulfilled the other major requirement for the scholarship, which is significant leadership ability. My son was advised to really emphasize that aspect if he interviews for a scholarship next year.

Im going to major in Physics… my instructors really do not know… the scholarships are so competitive you really cant know, i just wanted to get opinons from people i did not know.

Im not really worried about the money, it is the contract that comes with the scholarship that I want… Two years ago we had a guy get in to West Point, but he wasn’t as involved in JROTC as me… he played 3 sports and had a 5.1 gpa though… last year one of my good friends got the full ride NROTC scholarship to Norwich, and him and I are about the same in test scores, but again he wasn’t as involved with JROTC but played basketball… I am worried that because I did not play sports it might affect my chances, the reason I didn’t was because I was on the Raider team which is the JROTC physical fitness team…
