All of my information and reports for the Air Force ROTC program have been submitted earlier this month. The selection board for February will meet next week. On AFROTC website, it states that the average SAT scores of recipients for a scholarship is 1260 (on the 1600 scale). I believe this a combination of everyone who recieved the Type 1 (Full tuition), Type 2(up to $15,000), and Type 7 (up to $9,000). I was wondering if I have any chance of getting the Type 1 scholarship with a 1270( on the 1600 scale). Lets take out all other factors for the scholarship for now. Only 5% of the 16,000 recipients receive the Type 1. 10% receive the Type 2 and the other 85% recieve Type 7 (if my calculations are correct). Keep in mind that the interview counts as 40% of the selection process. Other things such as grades, SAT/ACT, personal statement, Physical fitness assessment, leadership, extra curricular, community service, and work experience count as 60%. The other factor is what you want to major in. All Type 1 scholarships are awarded in technical fields (I am doing Aerospace Engineering at Colorado at Boulder).
