Hello,

I am an international student planning to go to a community college first and then transfer. But I wanted to know that after the A.A. degree, do I have to transfer to the school right away? Because I plan to return to my home country, stay for an year, get some more money rest a bit be with my relatives and then go back to states after a year. Is it still considered a transfer then? Thank you

Certainly you can do this! You will be a transfer applicant whether you apply now or in ten years. Don’t worry about this one.

What you should do before you take this year off, is identify the best places to apply to, and make arrangements with the professors who will write your letters of recommendation. While you are out of the country, stay in touch with your professors so that they know what you are doing, and so that they remember you well when they write their letters.
