I have been admitted into my early decision college, which means that I have to withdraw all my applications. I did that, but now I wonder if I also have to tell my Early Action school that I'm denying its offer of admission as soon as possible? Or can I leave it until April?

For one of the colleges, I only sent in my SAT score, so do I have to tell them about my "withdrawal" as well?

Um, and just in general, what is the time frame for withdrawing applications? Will the ED school ever find out? Do I need to receive a confirmation of withdrawal from other colleges?

Thanks for the help! :)

If you haven’t actually submitted an application to a college, then you aren’t being considered, so there’s no need to submit any sort of withdrawl.

But for the other schools, you need to withdraw your applications as soon as you can. You absolutely cannot wait for other schools to give you their decisions.

You’re supposed to withdraw all apps immediately. I suggest e-mailing admissions, explaining you have an ED acceptance, and then following-up with a snail mail request to withdraw your app.

so it’s not simply withdrawing all applications, but also rejecting admissions from others immediately? what i was confused about is that i’'ve already been admitted into my early action school, so it’s not really withdrawing APPLICATIONS.
but maybe the ED school would like that as well.

well, the courteous thing would be to inform your EA school that you’re not attending. That way, they know they have one more open spot, and somebody else who does want to attend can be admitted.

Is there a reason why you’re hesitant about telling your EA school that you won’t be attending?

some ED kids have acceptances from EA schools and rolling admissions schools. I think once they’re admitted to their ED school, they’re supposed to contact all schools (including admitted schools) and say that they’ve been admitted ED to _________.

you’re right. (well, i have a chance of getting a full ride from my EA school, sooo, but i guess i’ll let them know that im not attending tmr…)
so would your other schools let you know that they canceled your applications, or you’re set as soon as you told them? (i emailed one of my schools, but it didn’t reply me. and my application status on its website is still “incomplete”. )

Do as NSM recommended and follow up with Snail Mail. After that you have done your duty. If they don’t remove you from their applicant pool that is the school’s fault. Keep a copy of the E-Mail you sent as proof you asked to be removed from the app list.
