After BCT

OK so I know this is a fast-forward, but life after BCT. During the Ac year how are you organized? Do you still have a Squad Leader? Are the Upperclassmen always training you or only during Military time? How are your required meals? I know we aren’t supposed to communicate on a personal level with upperclassmen until after recognition hw does this effect your lives? I really didn’t think I had a lot of questions left, oh well.

-During the Ac year you have something called M-days and T-days. They alternate every other day; it's like a block schedule. You have certain classes on each day. Wing Staff sends a routine order every night that has a schedule for the entire wing (the contact time for meals, if you have any briefings during the day, if you have formation or not, etc.) and you'll do as it says.

-You have an AOC, (Air Officer Commanding... usually a Major, I'm assuming), and you have a squadron commander. Other upperclassmen in your squadron have leadership positions.

-Upperclassmen aren't always training us. They have to give us space so we can take care of our academics. You get trained usually, though... but it all depends on your squadron.

-We have mandatory breakfast everyday. I don't know how that's going to be next year. It'll probably stay the same. We have mandatory noon meal. Dinner is optional. It's a buffet and you can either eat at Mitch's or get your dinner in a box and go back to your room.

-The relationship between you and your upperclassmen is supposed to be professional. You could probably crack some jokes here and there but that's probably about it. There are always upperclassmen to talk to if you need them... there are usually a couple of PEERs in your squad (they're like counselors), so there's always someone to talk to if you can't do so with your family or your roommate.

Training really varies by squad. My squad was fairly easy last semester, but we have training three days a week, plus minutes.

As for relationships, you can be friendly with some upperclassmen (I say some, definitely NOT all). Do not even come close to starting anything close to a "relationship." Romantic or overly friendly relationships can get both people in a LOT of trouble.

The mandatory meals also very by squad and table. You should rotate tables, and some are very relaxed while others still expect BCT decorum. The people in charge of meals changed not too long ago, so while we make jokes about the food, lunch and dinner are actually starting to be pretty good.
