After I send CommonApp EA

Once I send a common app to a school EA, I hear that the application is then locked, making me unable to make changes to the application.

But does it lock everything? Or just the main app plus my EA school's supplement, leaving me able to make changes to the other schools' supplements.

You can still make changes to the supplements as long as you haven’t sent them.

Hi,

I am new to this so please excuse my questions. If one is applying ED with the common app. should the rec. from guidences, teachers, personal resume, any extra information sheets ( such as additional cir. infor ) as well as “anything else you would like to tell us” questions be sent in together in a separate envelope, or can things be sent in “piece meal” to the admissions?Should additional information that is being sent be done from postal mail or via email to admissions?
Dont mean to be stupid, and I am sure these questions have been addressed somewhere on this site. If so, sorry to post again.

Anything that you intend to send electronically as part of the Common App (like anything posted in the Additional Info section) must be sent all at once; otherwise, the application is locked and you cannot add anything.

Anything that is not submitted electronically with the application, like teacher and guidance counselor recommendations, papers, etc. can be sent in individually, and often are as teachers and guidance counselors send those off themselves. They should all be sent by postal mail. Don’t count on e-mail getting into your official application folder. If it’s important, mail it.

Some high schools, however, ask that teachers turn their recommendations in to the guidance counselor, and also ask students to give their counselors any additional information they want sent and the GC sends it all together. Check with your GC whether your school has any similar policies.

I have heard that you can contact CA’s tech support to get them to “unlock” your application if you have applied ED and get deferred/rejected. Maybe they will do the same for EA applications.
