After IGCSEs in U.S. High school problem

I'm an international student studying in international school outside the U.S. I'm doing IGCSE courses right now. However, after finishing all the exams, I would like to attend the american high school in the states that offers both AP and IB programs.

I just read the e-mail from the school's admission officer saying that I was accepted. However, they don't recommend me to do AP since I've never taken Pre-AP or any classes that could qualify myself in specific subjects.

This bothers me so much since I prefer AP rather than IB. However, I decided to tell them that I was not interested in IB. They said yes but the maximum for me to take AP is only 4 subjects : Calculus, World/ U.S. history, Economics, Biology. I can't take English since I've taken IGCSE English as a Second Language and I've never taken any foreign language.

So, should I do IB or AP?

It's going to be a lot of works if I'm going to do IB and I might be not capable of doing extra-curricular stuffs to improve my resume due to a messy time table!

It’ll be a lot of work but it’s manageable, with good organisation. I’m doing the IB right now and trust me, by January, I had completed my Extended Essay, CAS and most of my IA’s and now I’m just studying for the final exams because my school is done with the IB syllabus. Toughest time is the end of junior year and beginning of senior year, when IA’s kick in but its good preparation for college life and you gain skills you never thought you needed before. I wouldnt encourage you to jump in if you dont think you’re completely ready, but just dont cross it out as an option till you’ve learned as much as you can about it.
Good luck!:)
