I'm just wondering if there's a norm for students after move-in day at Berkeley. Do we stay in our dorms till the 26th or do most (since a lot of students live in or near the Bay Area) go home and come back on the 25th or something like that?

They have a bunch of activities for us during those days before school starts. My friend lives an hour from Cal so she’s gonna get her room, go home, and come back with her stuff on a less hectic day. I’m planning on staying in Berkeley though. Move-in day = chill out with friends and dormmates. Monday = finish getting books and explore Cal. Tuesday = explore Berkeley.

That’s a good plan. I also live an hour away from Berkeley, so I might do that as well.

the days between move-in and school start are when you get to know you floormates and roommate. once school starts and people start getting busy, there will be less time to hang out.

for sure explore the campus and the city (if you haven’t done that already) and figure out where all your classes are, what buildings/rooms/etc. classes in dwinelle can take a while to find…

There’s alot of on campus events also going on. you should check it out! People will flyer alot of different events during welcome week.

Make friends during the first day and than at night hit the frat parties and start college life!!!

you also need to be there for your ResComp registration meeting so you can activate your internet

no you gotta stay and PARTY!!! first couple of days / weeks is easiest to meet people, you should get to know your floormates

Since welcome week has officially become welcome three days, I encourage incoming Bay Area students to explore the campus before school starts on Wednesday. Then you should feel more comfortable and relaxed for the the first day of class. Also, get used to sleeping with other people, possibly above/below you to see how it feels at night. This also applies to taking a shower, using the stalls, and sharing a sink.

Bureacratics:
- I know some of you will rush to get the AC Transit sticker on Wednesday, but come a bit earlier.
- When you come early you should also go visit Sproul Hall for everything related to FinAid and Registration before the line blows out of proportion
- Do take the chance to find all the rooms for your discussion/lab/lecture. 10min Berkeley time may seem like enough time, but Berkeley is not an easy climb!
- Do what Leftist says
- If you feel bored go visit these places: Cal Memorial Stadium, Lawrence Hall of Science, Botanical Gardens, Tilden Park (You will need a car), S.F. (Fisherman’s Wharf never gets old), College Ave/Claremont Ave (Take the 51 or 7 after you complete #1)

Anyone know the earliest day we can get our AC Transit sticker?
Is it Wednesday as the above poster mentioned?

How many days do we have between move-in and first day of class?

Move in is either the 22nd or 23rd depending on your situation, and classes start the 26th.

So classes start halfway through the week? If we have a MWF class our first class will be on the 26th?

^ yes. it’s not really that strange. it just is what it is.
