After the school interview/visit

I just visited a few schools with my child (applying to 9th grade). I mailed a package to each of these schools including newspaper article (about him) and couple of other awards he received. I also just released his SSAT scores to these school. My child is homeschooled and we are not using any education consultant. I know his friends that are at a private school, the secondary school placement director will be calling these schools to advocate for the kids. My question is, what do I do? What is appropriate? Can I call to make sure they received the SSAT score and the package I sent?

Thanks.

IMHO, you can I guess but you don't need. I would be careful about calling too much so as not to be percieved as high maintenance.

They will let you know if parts of the application are missing once you submit it. If you have extra items to include, I would submit it with the application. Let me rephrase that - have your SON send it not you. Let him handle the process as much as he can. It will show his independence.

My child applied from public school - so zero hand holding from the public school, no phone calls placed - and she faired fine.

If his application and interview are strong, they'll speak for themselves.

Thanks!

I guess I'll just have to trust the system. :-)

I agree with creative - my daughter's school did no advocating on her behalf and she did fine. They certainly have seen home-school kids before and they take that into account.
