thats because you live in crappy stouffer

Housing is a smaller part of your college life than you think. Ideally you would be spending a good deal of your time outside of the classroom, going to class, socializing, exploring the city, meeting with professors, doing extracurriculars...

I hated my freshman dorm at Penn but in retrospect it helped make my freshman year great because I was always out and about.

^
ilb, remind us which freshman dorm you were in and why you hated it. King's Court?

yeah, kings court. Its probably the closest thing Penn has to a Yale-esque residential college, what with its having its own dining hall and a very close-knit community. I had the tiniest room layout in the entire building. And it seemed my friends were in every college house except for my own!

However, to pretend that Durham adds anything to the Duke experience is just silly.

I suppose that would be true for anyone wholly unwilling to extend themselves past the sidewalks around their school. For others, engaging with a city with the rich, diverse, and yes, tension filled history as Durham might just be broadening. Perhaps the original poster plans to put some effort into the full measure of the college experience.

ILB's pictures are great. Especially since the Durham one actually shows Duke's East Campus and the trees surrounding it. I've been to Penn and greatly enjoyed the time there, too.

Best of luck with your decision - the good news is, there's really not a wrong answer.

i think stouffer isn't that great either. i just don't think the quad's as grand as everyone makes it out to be

ilovebagels,
did you requect KC on the housing form or was it just assigned to you?

Well TECHNICALLY I requested it...it was choice #10 on my list..

so where did the OP decide to go??

Oh well. Penn can't win 'em all.

Just more of 'em than Duke ;)

well if it makes y'all feel better I'm having second thoughts :(

it woulda happened either way though

Muahahaha!!!

Just kidding. I hope it all works out for you man (or woman)

Both schools are fantastic and you really can't go wrong either way.

So just put away those second thoughts and GO FOR IT, YOU BLUE DEVIL! :)
