"After transfer to UCLA, students may not change their major to
Business Economics if they were originally admitted to a major outside the
Department of Economics." -Assist.org

By the way, anyone know if you can switch from a impacted (excluding Biz-Econ) to non-impacted major in the same college?

Ugh that really sucks that you can't change your major. Anyway OP, let me know what you decide to do since I'm in the same boat considering transfering into one of the same two majors.

Darren, one thing you can do is to fulfill all the pre-reqs for Business Economics and then declare a DOUBLE-MAJOR. This isn't technically a changing of major because you are declaring a new major in addition to your current one. This could be your alternative choice, however you should consult with Econ dept.

I think japanese and bizecon will open you up with lots of career opportunities... first off, you stand out from the rest by showing competence in Japanese language and knowledge of its culture (I'm assuming cultural studies is part of Japanese major requirement) so you can work internationally.

if nothing works out... well, you can always minor in accounting.

I think it's possible to switch to a non impacted major, skwz. My friend transferred to berkeley last year as a EECS major and switched to applied math afterward.

Email the econ department, with some really convicing story, they basically tell you that if your stats were good enough to get in from CC they will let you in if you bring over your transcripts and so on.

HOwever, they will specify the stats in their email, and its usually not what was "good" enought to get in, but what was at the top of the list.
theytold me you must have a 3.8 CC gpa, however, its not like ONLY people with 3.8 and above got into biz econ, many people with much lower gpas got accepted, however, they will not look at other factors.

If youdouble major, you usually have to get accepted into the impacted major as your primary major.

Are you sure? Because when I was at Berkeley's Engineering Day for transfers, they emphasized that you cannot change your major once at all you transferred into College of Engineering.

Probably meant that you can't switch to a different engineering major. Besides I don't think they would reject a transfer from engineering to math since you satisfied the pre-reqs anyway.
