AG Requirements not met yet, but still submitted Application

So I’m a senior at a California high school and I applied for four schools, CSULA, CSU Stanislaus, Sac State, and CSU Bakersfield. However, I failed my third year of math last year , but am currently working on a harder math course (math analyis) this year and I am exceeding in that class. I was wondering if it will impact my admissions, if I failed a year of math but am working and passing a harder math class this year. Also, I am missing half a year of an elective, which is still in progress and I am exceeding in too, just I don’t have it finished yet.

If you listed these courses as In-Progress and pass the courses, you should be fine. You are not expected to complete all the a-g courses at the time of application but are expected that all will be completed with passing grades by end of Senior year.

Gotcha, @Gumbymom! Thank you so much for the reply! I looked up my eligibility score and it was 4,256, will I be able go to the colleges that I listed?

Your EI looks competitive for all the schools on your list. Best of luck.

https://www2.calstate.edu/attend/degrees-certificates-credentials/Pages/impacted-degrees.aspx shows that Bakersfield and Stanislaus are not impacted at the campus level or for any major except nursing. So if you meet the minimum CSU requirements and apply to any major besides nursing, you should be admitted to these campuses.

Los Angeles and Sacramento are impacted campuses with all or some majors impacted as well, so higher eligibility index than the minimum is needed. Unfortunately, these campuses do not publish past thresholds like some other campuses (e.g. Northridge and San Jose) do.

I live locally to Stanislaus, would that be a plus towards me being admitted?

Thank you for the help!

Stanislaus’ local area is the “State of California” according to https://www2.calstate.edu/apply/freshman/documents/csulocaladmission-serviceareas.pdf since it is a non-impacted campus that admits at the CSU minimum requirements (2950 eligibility index for California residents). Hello I’m in my senior year. Will receive a D in Ap calculus Ab. Should I notify UCs immediately. This is my fourth year of math and met all my a-g requirements. Also My grades in other class are a mix of As and Bs. Thanks.

@Jimmytoro: To clarify about Senior year grades and provisional admission. BTW this is posted in a CSU thread but I will address what a provisional admission means so hopefully other posters will glean some information.

For the UC’s with the exception of UCB/UCLA, you need to maintain a 3.0 Unweighted GPA with No D’s or F’s in any Senior year a-g courses regardless if you have met the a-g course requirements.

For UCLA/UCB, you need to maintain a 3.0 Unweighted GPA with No D’s or F’s.

Here is what you need to do if you get a D or F. Notifying the UC’s early will give you time to possibly retake the course on-line or at another school or they wait until your final grade at the end of the year to determine your fate

Below is a link for each UC website and instructions on how to contact admissions: If there are changes to your academic record:
If you change schools, add or drop a course, or fail to earn a C or better in a course after you submit your application, you must notify the campuses you’ve applied to (all campuses except UC Berkeley). If you receive an offer of admission, be sure to confirm with the campus admission office that they are aware of the deficient grade or schedule changes.

Keep in mind: We cannot guarantee that a campus can go back to review an application after correspondence has been received. Make sure to save a copy of your correspondence just in case.

For CSU’s, you need to pass all a-g courses with a C- or higher to maintain your provisional admission. Some schools are more lenient than others so you would need to contact them individually to determine your course of action.
