I'll be 18, turning 19 in November. It really depends on the cutoff date in your state, whether it's the 1st or September, the 1st of January, or something entirely different (like June, as above)

i started freshman year at 17, and just turned 18 on monday, about 3 weeks after i got home from school.

17 just seems really young to be in college to me...you cannot even buy a lottery ticket or smoke legally yet.

I was 16 when I started, turned 17 about 3 weeks later. Yes, sometimes it's a pain in the ass when people find out how old you are, but if they really like you it's not a big deal. I have friends ranging from 18 to 22. I won't turn 18 until 3 weeks after school starts this year, when I'm a sophomore, and I have 3 friends turning 21 just this summer.

PS Kenneth, my state doesn't have the lottery and in AL you have to be 19 to buy cigs.

I'll be 18 this December, almost at the end of my first semester as a freshman in college.

june cut off date?!?!?!? man thats crazy
i started school in ny and their cut off date is december 31st. if i had started school in florida i would be turning a senior in high school as oppose a frosh in college. my birthday is in november..and sometimes i feel like a young one cuz all my friends down here is turning/turned 18.

Here you can't smoke legally until you're 19

EDIT: heh, I just saw AUlostchick's post

wow, an 11 and 15 year old. that is really cool.
ill be seventeen until january, but i am not worried.
it shouldnt be an issue at all, and there are quite a few seventeen year olds.

Seriously, no one will care if you're a mature individual.

I'll be a junior next year and I just turned 18. None of my friends even think about how old I am until my birthday comes around and then they always just joke about it. It kind of becomes wierd with dating because you'll be interacting and socializing with people quite a few years older than you are... I briefly went out with a 23 year old senior in one of my classes. That was kind of odd... but that's not why I ended it. You'll be fine.

I'll be 17 still this fall, and I'll turn 18 in November. I'm the youngest person in my graduating class of 325 this year...it's crazy how young some of you guys are/were when you started college.

Kenneth, why do you think 17 is too young?
I'm not worried about how it will be, it's just a thought. I like being the youngest, and I generally am, all of my friends are College freshmen and up. lol To them I'm always the baby.

I think he means it just seems wierd... 17 is still kind of a "kid" age and as a college student you aren't really considered a "kid" anymore.

I kind of agree... when I think about my age and what a normal kid of my age would be doing with his/her life I kind of feel ackward but only for a second. If all goes well I'll graduate having just turned 20... I don't think that's very young considering I know kids still in their teens graduating but I guess when you consider the normal age is more around 22/23 it is kind of young.

I'll be 21. wooo?

mrm: Transfer or just late?

I was 17 my whole freshman year and turned 18 last week. If you don't make a big deal about it, no one else will. My friends didn't know I was 17 until halfway through the year. The worst part about it for me was that I couldn't legally sign my name on a lot of university documents; the forms had to be sent to my parents.

I'll turn 18 a month before college :).

I'll be 17 when I go to college too.

I'll have just turned 17 when I enter college, and I'll turn 18 the August before soph year.

Neverborn, I'll be transferring, but I'm actually a little late even for that.

definitely the sweetest thing about being 18 is that you can sign all your forms yourself.
