Hello fellow CCers,
This is my third time sending a Secondary School Report to Swarthmore College. It's practically early March now. My first time was in late December; it never reached there. I tried again in the first week of February. Every other college had received my form, but not Swarthmore. I plan on resending as soon as possible (basically, Monday). That would make this the THIRD time. It's pretty ridiculous. I have a few questions:
1. Is it possible the form is still being processed and that there's really no need to worry?
2. Will this harm me in admissions?
On January 29, they sent an email containing this sentence:
"If your checklist shows you have outstanding materials that you have not previously sent, you will have one week from the date of this letter to submit them in order for your application to receive full consideration by the Admissions Committee."
However, this was not my fault at all.
3. Will it affect my financial aid offer?

Why haven’t you contacted the admission’s dept. and simply asked them if they have received the form? Call them up and ask if they have received the form. Email them and confirm whether or not they have received the form? It could be that the form is there but they haven’t updated the status on the computer.

Call them. At the very least, email them.

I actually just emailed them about an hour ago but I don’t expect a response until Monday. I was going to call them on Monday too.

I also wrote up a little apologetic note to accompany my resent form explaining my situation. I’m hoping they’ll have sympathy.

Thanks!

Does anyone have any other advice?

First, it is possible they are processing it and the systems have not been updated yet. Second, why are you sending it and not your guidance office?

Well, I will be giving it to my counseling office. That’s what I meant when I said that I’ll be resending it.

Yes, but it seems unlikely after more than three weeks. One would think that, given the lower flow of materials in February, they would process things faster now. I’ll call them on Monday to make sure.

So, if it really got lost somewhere, what do I do to keep myself from being screwed over completely.

You just resend it and honestly, I don’t think they will penalize you because you are doing your part.

Edit - you can also ask your guidance counseling office if they would fax it to Swarthmore to ensure it gets there if you’d like. I don’t think you can do this on your own though…

Ok, thanks! I’ll try that. I’m really hoping they just got lazy and forgot to update it on the website, but if not I’ll do whatever is necessary to get it there as soon as possible.

Just in case you guys were wondering, and for the reference of future CCers, they asked me to fax or email it to them.
