Okay, I'm not sure what to do here!

Before my counselor left this year (I don't know if she retired or went to another school!) she said that she would do my recs b/c the new counselor wouldn't know me as well or w/e and she knew I was applying to some competitive schools.

So for counselor who should I put?? Should I put my official (new) HS Counselor w/ THEIR information and just give the recs to her or what??

My new counselor should be fine with the objective stuff (rank, GPA, etc) but then there's subjective stuff like the ratings and there's a space I think asking how long they've known me.

I think it just dawned on me...Could I have her just right a letter saying she had been my counselor for 3 years, etc., etc. She thinks really highly of me = good recs. Blah Idk what to do.

i'm wondering the sme thing! mine went on maternity leave and wrote my rec but the new one will be the one to do the transcript stuff and sign my ED paper.
i think i'm going to put my old counselor on the common app because of the rec. but honestly. they should not be allowed to do this. =P

As far as I know you are allowed to put your old counselor as your counselor, and ask them to complete your recs and such, if that counsolor leaves duirng your app process (like after the school year begins, your senior year). It wouldn't make sense to ask a new counselor to write about you if they have only known you for a few months. But if the new counselor has been there a while, more than just a few months, you may have to have them explain so in their letter. In either case, there is a section on the common app to put extra information- if you have the room, put this change and explain in there. You should also check with the school- there is no penalty for asking, and admin counselors often vary on what they look for in recs.

My counselor (principal) also left this year. When asked who my counselor was, I put Her Name (2004-2007). She did my counselor recs.

My counselor is on maternity leave and I don't know who the new counselor will be, but I'm going to put the new counselor's name down when I find out.

It might be better to put down the old one and ask her to do the subjective stuff also explaining that she'd left. Then ask the new one to do the objective stuff cause she probably has more accurate info.
