D is wants to attend a women's college. She's interested in a Computer Science degree.
We investigated Agnes Scott website and understand the Computer Science dual degree (Bachelors degree from Agnes Scott and Bachelors degree from Emory in a 5 year plan) program offered in conjunction with Emory. We are wondering about the program.
If Agnes Scott in truly interested in expanding Computer Science program why don't they simply offer the degree at AS? Not enough student interest? Resources a problem?
How many students actually pursue this plan?
Any students out there willing to offer a report if they are in progress with this plan?
There are several negatives as we see it and not many positives:
-AS Comp Science students must leave the campus after third year and either move to Emory or get an off campus apartment before finishing their AS Bachelors Degree.
- must re-apply to Emory Junior year for admission AND financial aid (!!) to complete both AS degree and Emory degree.
- an extra year of private college tutition and fees. This is a big concern.....
Yes, we will contact the department at AS for info but hope to hear directly from students and community about their experiences with logistics/reality of this 5 year plan. Thanks!!
