Agriculture and Sciences at Cornell

So I want to be a vet and I read that you can't automatically go into Cornell's vet college or sumthin. what are they talking about? Can't you just go into any college as an undergraduate or are there restrictions for specific ones? And if I do try to apply to Cornell with some kind of animal sciences major then is there a better chance of getting in? This is because I also heard that in the fields that colleges aren't really progressed in, there is a better chance of getting in then for example, the college for the engineers.

..OR......am I just being dumb asking such a simple question?

Ok, I'm a little confused by what you're asking, but I'll try to answer...

Cornell has a graduate veterinary school - you cannot apply to the school directly from high school. You have to complete a bachelor's degree first.

Cornell has a strong animal science/pre-vet program. While it's perfectly possible to major in anything before applying to vet school, most of the prevets at Cornell are AnSci majors.

Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) accepts applicants by major, so it could be "easier" OR "harder" to get into a certain major in this school, including animal sciences. You are only competing for a spot against other AnSci majors, so the difficulty of getting in depends solely on that year's applicant group.

I hope that helps!

If you want to attend Cornell as an undergraduate and as a Vet student, you should apply to College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. You can receive early admission to the Vet school during your last year of college.. cut and pasted from their site:
