Additional Information:
I go to an extremely competitive private school where being successful and having ECs is rare. We annually send students to Ivies and top schools. I've been in an environment where students will do anything to get ahead and I don't want to do that again. I'd like to stay in the northeast, but I'll take a look at anything. I'm liberal, so an extremely conservative college won't do. I need somewhere with a music scene since I regularly go to concerts. Don't worry about selectivity. I'm looking for a place I can call home for 4-8 years, whether it's most selective or moderately selective.

Colleges I've visited & will apply to:
UMASS Amherst
Boston University
Boston College
Mount Holyoke College
Smith College
Tufts University

Strongly disliked:
WPI

[The College Equestrian Homepage - college equestrian programs, equestrian teams](http://www.thecollegeequestrian.com/)

Maybe Cornell?

I just checked the website listed above and it is not very inclusive. For the search I did, there were several prominent programs not included.

If you are interested in showing in the IHSA, check out [Intercollegiate Horse Show Association: Home](http://www.ihsainc.com) and click on the link that says “About” and another window will come up that says “current teams”. Click on that and it will give you a list of all colleges that have paid their dues for this year. You can also go to [Campus Equestrian: Information, including results, stories and archives from the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA), ANRC, USA Equestrian, USET, rated shows, riding academies, horse trainers and all things riding-related](http://www.campusequestrian.com) for news and information. It is also easy to see which colleges participate within each zone and region.

Depending on your gpa and SAT/ACTs you could look at (in no particular order) Drew, Marist, Univ. of Rochester, Cornell, Binghamton, Lehigh, University of Scranton, Bucknell, Franklin and Marshall, Gettysburg, Villanova. Merit aid might be a possibility at some of these again depending on your numbers.
