Ah! Need Urgent Help!

Hey all,

I'm a sophomore at New York University majoring in Economics with minors in Pre-Business and Mathematics. I was looking to apply to transfer to other schools in March, but I've run into a problem. I'm currently enrolled in Calc II and we just got our midterms back, which I got a C+ on (Ahh). My question is should I take this as pass/fail if I want to transfer at the end of the semester? I need to know soon because the date already passed, but we can petition it if we haven't had enough grades. I don't think it should be a problem if I decide to do that. Here's my transcript thus far:

Freshman Year:
Prose Composition I B+
Social Foundations I A GPA: 3.75
Cultural Foundations I A
Calculus I A-

Prose Composition II A
Cultural Foundations II A GPA: 4.00
Social Foundations II A
Economics II A

Estimates for this Semester:

Topics in Modern Society A/A-
Principals of Economics I A-/B+
History of the Universe A
Calculus II ** (Anywhere from C+ to maybe a B+ if I do well on the final)

** Midterm is 30% of your final grade. Quizzes are 20% and HW are 10%. I have a B+ quiz average and an A HW average.

WILL THIS C+ REALLY HURT MY TRANSFER CHANCES? AHHH PLEASE HELP!!

(I originally was only going to apply to schools like Gtown, Notre Dame, Penn maybe Brown... and I did horrible on my SATs with 660M/600V which I was considering retaking for transferring, if i can do that. But, I do have pretty good ec at NYU so far. sorry for the length!)

THANK YOU !!!

I would advise avoiding the pass/fail option because you're only taking 4 classes. If you really want to take Calc II pass/fail I'd suggest adding a 5th course...but I really don't think it'll be that bad either way!

what schools are you looking to transfer into? some schools view a P/NP as a C/F ........ so in that case getting a C+ would be better for your gpa than getting a C. HOwever some schools will not count the P/NP option against you. usulaly shcoools have a max of units you can take as P/NP..... and this P/NP for calc 2 will just count as that max and thats all.

just curious.. why do you want to leave nyu?
I'm thinking of transferring there...

no reason in particular, I like it here a lot. I was just trying to see if I could break into ivy, if not, no biggie. NYU is ranked pretty high in my major so I'm just figuring why not. It's an awesome school once you get used to it.
