Ah, yes. Dropping a class...

This is for all the ED accepted folk (and other beloved CCers) out there worrying about whether they should drop a class that's been stressing them out/making their lives miserable for a semester, and if doing so would:

All right, so I had a nice little discussion with my GC today about the what the possibilities of my dropping a class would entail. I've been stressing over this for the last week or two because one class (AP Chem) is making my life a living hell, to put it lightly. My main concern with dropping was, of course, that I'd get my admissions rescinded, but he was quick to let me know that he really didn't think so. He explained that the whole Mid-Year Report thing (where he'll be outlining my drop) is to make sure that 1) your first semester performance is academically acceptable and 2) that you haven't dropped all of your harder classes, like if you're taking 5 AP classes and you drop 3-4 (I'm taking 4 and dropping 1). I'm doing the second semester of chemistry through the Texas Tech Correspondence Program (since I have to have a full three credits of science to graduate, and I only have two-and-a-half right now). So yeah, he said not to stress about dropping a class, he'll call Princeton to make sure, and relax. And enjoy the de-stressification (nice word, eh?) :)

Carpe diem!

Excellent, Philip. That'll definitely make the final semester a bit more enjoyable. :)

Check with Princeton first Phil. Don't they require 3 years of science?

Heck yeah, 'bree! The prospects for this semester are oh-so-much brighter now. Woohoo!

That they do, inhaven. That they do. Luckily, I'll be able to complete my third year of science through Chemistry 1B (a correspondence course offered by Texas Tech). Yeah, my GC definitely would not have let me drop it had I not had a way to complete my science requirement (and that's just for graduation, let alone Princeton).

wow, only 3 years of sciences? my school requires 4. but yeah, 2nd semester is going to be a breeze, until AP exams =). but im enjoying this relaxation period.

hehe phil. I dropped Statistics AP today. I contacted my regional admissions director and he was like umm no we dont care as long as u dont drop to 1 class that is like home economics or something hahahaha =D

lol that's awesome! I wish I had that luxury, but actually I like all my classes, so meh.
My school only requires two years of lab science!

I thought [for some idiotic reason] that I had to have 4 years of lab science. So, being the brilliant scientist that I am, [BIG wink] I took university physics last semester. groan

And it wasn't necessary?

Oh but how you loved those labs!
Don't worry Kebree, it's...character-building :p

And morale-degrading.

My favorite part of Kebree's scheduling is that she took PHYSICS FOR ENGINEERS when she could have taken PHYSICS FOR NON-SCIENCE MAJORS! She's a goddamn artist and she takes the most rigorous science course available - I'm surprised she isn't in one of those hard-to-understand math classes like geometry.

Yes, I'm a stereotype-buster extraordinaire. ;)
You know, Princeton should have admitted me just for having the sheer nerve to take engineering physics as a "humanities person"...

And capster, you're back! It's like the "return of the old guard" or something, haha.

ooh yes you are back, and you better make it to 1,000 in like five minutes.
"hard-to-understand math classes"-- like calculus? lol

I second the "calculus" amendment.

I don't like the fact that ilcapo leaves us hanging with only 3 posts to go before 1,000. It's as if he doesn't even want it..meanwhile I'm working ferverntly towards 4,000.

4,000.....Ahhhhh!

falls off chair

lol don't! I'm still far away...I gave myself until the end of next week, so I think that can happen. I also promised it to the Georgetown board, so you're invited to celebrate there. Maybe, if i go around and write invitations on all the boards, i'll be another 200 posts closer!

Yeah, give it a try :)

lol I don't need more enemies, thank you. :p

Haha, ain't that the truth. There would be a mass CC uprising against zante were that to happen. Good times, good times. Wait, no...
