Ah!

Okay, I applied to Elon early action. I really wish I had done early decision instead because I'm only NOW realizing that it is my first choice school. That being said, I was wondering about my chances with early action:

GPA: 3.74
Rank: 13/258
ACT: 29
SAT: 1960 (Math-590, CR-680, W-690)
I took three SAT subject tests (scores from 630-680)

I work part-time, do tons of volunteering, play basketball, and write for the town newspaper.

Someone please relieve my anxiety and let me know!

I think you're in easily! And I think they'd be lucky to have you.

My son was just accepted after applying ED with the same GPA, also an athlete who works part time with lots of volunteering, but with only an 1810 SAT. His letters were incredible and he had a good essay, for whatever that's worth.

Even considering that acceptance rates are a little lower for EA compared to ED, I'd say you're as good as in. Bonus points if you're a guy, as you're chances are definitely higher of getting in. Best of luck.

americaneskimo1, can I assume you are from Alaska??? !!!

My D just got accepted as well. Are you planning on going to the first orientation on March 14th? Is that the one that the ED kids are expected to attend?

I'm not sure about March 14th - we only live about 90 minutes away in Raleigh, so stuff like that won't be a big deal. I am just so glad he got in, and he couldn't be happier! My wife and I drove over this afternoon and got him a new sweatshirt from the bookstore, and he proudly put it on and ran out to tell some friends.

yes, I think there are advantages, though, to attending the first orientation session. Apparently you have some priority for class registration and dorm selection.

If it's like last year, the priority for ED students is based on when Elon receives the deposit. I don't recall the orientation session being involved -- but that may have changed.
