I want to major in biomedical engineeering but am still unsure. I also am thinking of neuroscience and chemical engineering as a back up. I definitely want to be a Pre-Med. Please tell me your opinion. How are my chances?? Please be honest!!!!!!

So...are you applying to SEAS?

excellent chances at nyu, suny stonybrook, RPI, johns hopkins, and cmu
very good chances at columbia & cornell
good chances at duke
a chance at princeton
brown, it's all about the essay

I think I am applying to SEAS. Does anyone else have any opinions, commemts, emotional outbursts???? Please be as brutally honest and blunt as you want....
Thanks guys. You guys ROCK!!!

If you are applying to SEAS, the female thing is a huge plus, I agree with the previous poster "very good chances at columbia"

Is 1400 a low score to apply to the ivy league schools on my list under regular decision especially since I want to go engineering and premed?

Sounds good but isn't the Who's Who a scam? I'm not mentioning it. There were at least 50,000 kids from Texas who got it. Now how prestigious is that?

LOL, yeah don't post "who's who" on your resume, because the colleges will laugh their ass off at it.

I dont get it. I told my Guidance Counselor that and she said "You should still put it down because you earned it." Now you definitely know I go to a small school LOL. I dont even know how I got, but I do know that everyone gets it in my school and others...Thanks...anything else???????????

LOL Siblea, i totally understand you...but sadly..many high school guidance counselors don't know anything...surprising as that seems because that IS their job.
Lucky that you have us!

are you doing ED?

Delfire, you're right. I am lucky to have found this website LOL. I am applying under RD.
Honesly, compared to other applicants, do I have a shot (low, medium, high)? My SAT was a 1220 (ouch, I was pretty upset) when I took it before; it jumped 180 pts. Will colleges look badly on this??

Siblea - looking at your awards and honors, I'm wondering how you are able to fit them in the space provided on the application. I'm not able to fit them all in so I've been told to just put the ones in that are most important until space runs out. What are you doing?

I think I am going to do the same thing, but my guidance couselor told me to send a copy of my high school resume along with the application. Do you think this is necessary???

haha, Siblea, i have almost the same situation, I have loads of quality ECs/work to justify my low stats :(...but Columbia highly discourages it...could it be that they don't care??? I'm just attaching my on the online part where it says additional info...hopefully that'll work

Thanks. For any one doing the paper application: Do you suggest typeing out the personal statement and stapling it to the form?? I was going to use a type writer, but my type writer does not align properly. I don't want to write on it because it looks unprofessional.

bump......................

On the website it say SEAS range for SAT scores is 1420-1520. I have a 1400. Does 20 pts make a difference or would it still be considered out of range???
