Ok so I was waitlisted, not the worst case scenerio but Elon was like my #1 choice pretty much....any idea how many people get off the waitlist or what I can do to improve my chances of getting off it??

I think a LOT of people come off the waitlist( if you mean for the regular college and not Musical Theater)
As Elon climbs in national reputation, it now becomes ,in addition to a school people love for the great place it is, a a safety for kids looking at very high echelon schools.

so don't despair!

I got waitlisted today too. But I withdrew my application. Call them and ask how many people are waitlisted and remind them that its your number one.

thanks for the advice...yeah I'll probably send them a letter saying that I would definately enroll if admitted and that it's my number 1. :) I hope I get in. For the rest of you guys waitlisted, what were your stats?

i got waitlisted..and someone from my school who had a lower gpa and test scores got in. i applied to other schools that are harder to get into then elon so i hope this isn't a reflection of what's going to happen with those.

i was waitlisted to. it was supposed to be one of my easier schools to get into, so im slightly scared now lol

My D was waitlisted and "suprisingly" given her academic and SAT scores. However, her letter mentioned only the Theater Arts program, if accepted not the MT program. Is there an actual wait list for the MT program or is this it? Was the waitlisting truly for academic reasons? At the audition, 1 person in the TA program from the prior year was reauditioning his sophomore year. Are there any TA majors accepted during the freshman year? Need to ask the school but how many TA's transfer to MT.
Thx

My daughter was waitlisted too. Elon was her #1 for two years - but she has some excellent other options too. Her GC was very surprised but Elon got over 9400 applications this year.

If you are waitlisted - you must respond to the email to actually be put on the waitlist. While waiting go ahead and send your 3rd quarter grades and anything else that might add to your application. i.e. if you win a significant award etc.
Do this right up to graduation if you still haven't heard by then.
Good Luck!

Did your daughter actually audition for Musical Theatre on one of the scheduled audition dates? If she has, that acceptance would be contingent upon her ACCEPTANCE into the university.

If she did audition for MT, acceptees receive a phone call from Cathy McNeela, and those rejected unfortunately will just receive a letter. Calls and letters would be received this week.

i was waitlisted. my college counselor was VERY surprised, as was i. elon has been my top choice since freshman year.

oh well.

Make sure you visit again and plan a meeting with one of their reps. It doesn't technically mean anything at Elon, but on a wait list it can make all the difference.

My son was waitlisted last year so I can shed a little light on this topic. You can look at any school's waitlist information through the Common Data Set. Last year, Elon offered waitlist to 3,016 students and 1,211 accepted a place on the waitlist. Of those, only 39 were eventually admitted. As soon as my son received notice of his waitlist (and he was a good candidate for regular admission) he contacted his admissions counselor. He was told that since he didn't attend the Elon visit at his high school, they didn't know that Elon was his first choice. This was very important to them, because they knew he had applied to 7 other schools. (Our school system reveals which schools seniors apply to). Second, he wrote a letter formally expressing his interest and that he would enroll if accepted. Finally, he had an alumni friend call and put in a good word for him. Even though they said he wouldn't hear about the waitlist until mid-June, they called him on May 1 and admitted him. On move-in day, the Virginia admissions counselor stopped by his dorm and welcomed him to Elon and told him he was one of only two waitlists admitted from Virginia. Don't give up and definitely let them know how important Elon is to you. That seemed to be a priority to them. By the way, he loves Elon!

Is anyone still on the waitlist?
Anyone heard any new news about the waitlist?

Justamom - my D is on the list and much like the kids in this thread - Elon appeared to be a safe school (here GC actually said it was). She got into Emory, so go figure. It’s about the only school that I’ve not seen any waitlist activity - which tells me there’s not much melt and perhaps they had a high yield rate. It seems to make sense that families not spending the big money would look to an Elon over a state school. What I can’t figure is how so many ‘qualified’ kids got rejected. It’s a big number. Good luck.

This thread is more than a year old…

Indeed it is…
My daughter was not offered admission off the wait list. After she agreed to be place on the wait list, she updated her file with final year transcripts etc. and heard nothing.
at. all. for. weeks.
Finally in early July, she emailed her admissions rep. He responded with a curt - there is no more room at the inn, but consider applying as a transfer. No letter via snail mail which I thought was quite cheap of them. She was never rejected but not hearing anything was lousy.

Her heart was with Elon for a long long time. She even considered applying as a transfer. Here is the funny thing - at Elon she was going to major in Biology (maybe pre-med) or Athletic Training. At all her other schools she applied Nursing (of course Elon doesn’t have Nursing). Spring of senior year she switched to Medical Technology and is exploring pre-med at her school. This past winter - Elon eliminated the Athletic Training major and added a Med Tech major. Oh well - their loss.
She is happy where she is now.

Bottom line - if you are waitlisted, don’t count on any communication from admissions and good luck!

Ha - same story though…
